What Oldbridge lacks by way of village services is more than compensated for by it's strategic position on the Wicklow Way and its offering of two magnificent accommodation options, one right on the route and the other in a location which more than makes up for the extra couple of "off-trail" kilometres needed to reach it, less than would otherwise be involved in reaching Roundwood Village.
As the name suggests, the "old bridge" in question spans a river -the Avonmore- which flows out from the beautiful Lough Dan. Those thinking of spending an extra day here have plenty of additional walking options open to them, not only with Lough Dan itself but also with mountains like Scarr, the Kanturks and Knocknacloghoge.
