Despite its lack of village services Knockree is an outstanding overnight location for the Wicklow Way walker who wishes to minimise off-trail walking to a minimum. There is a state-of-the art hostel right on the route and a nearby Bed and Breakfast.
This beautifully scenic location offers a 360 degree panorama of picturesque mountains, from the Sugarloaf in the east, to Djouce, Maulin and the Tonduffs to the south, Kippure to the west and finally on to Prince William’s Seat to the north. The nearby Enniskerry to Glencree Road carries little traffic thus making for a perfectly tranquil setting.
