The Coach House is located in the centre of Roundwood where the Lough Dan Road meets the Main Street. This is approximately 2½km off the Wicklow Way. Despite its central location in the village, there are still green fields adjacent to the building. The Vartry Reservoir is set back from the rear of the property.
Although the original building dates back to the 1820s, the back of the building has been built in more recent times and many of the bedrooms have been refurbished for the 2015 season.
There are six bedrooms with ensuites and another two rooms that share a bathroom. All of these rooms are located upstairs, mostly above the kitchen area to the rear of the premises. Each bedroom is accessed with a key card. Once inside, there are tea and coffee making facilities and a flat screen television showing all the local Saorview stations.
Breakfast is served to both residents and non-residents in the main area of the pub. Later on, there is a wide range of options for lunches and evening meals (see Sample Menu page) available for the remainder the day up until 9pm.
In addition to the main dining area of the pub, there is also a beer garden outside in a sheltered courtyard and a games room with a pool table, darts board and juke box. Free WiFi is available throughout the bar area.
All of the main sporting events on Sky and Setanta Sports are shown on the large TV sceens throughout the bar. There is further entertainment every weekend, with traditional music on Sundays and a more diverse range of musical acts on Saturdays.
In addition to the Wicklow Way, there are two further Slí na Sláinte walks that are worth exploring. The first loop walk is around the Lower Vartry Reservoir. This is 7km long and easily accessible from the Coach House. The Ballinastoe walk is a little further away and is 5km long.
Pre-ordered packed lunches can be made up for walkers on the trail. A luggage transfer to the next accommodation on the Wicklow Way can also be organised on the walkers behalf.
The Coach House offer a guided cycling tour of some of Wicklow's mountains and lakes on a fleet of Giant mountain bikes. Tours can be either for a full or half-day and the price includes the bike hire, safety gear, light snacks and tour guide.
