Aughrim
The nearest settlement for those breaking their walk at The Iron Bridge/Ow River Valley, Aughrim is a fast-growing village with one hotel in town and another 2km away at Macreddin (horse-riding available). Fishing is the main visitor attraction in the form of an artificial lake stocked with rainbow trout.

Moyne & Knockananna
Moyne is best known (in a Wicklow Way context) as the southern terminus of the walking route as originally planned by J.B. Malone in 1966. Knockananna (traditional music every week) is the village centre of a dispersed farming area. Although there is no restaurant the two local guest houses are highly recommended for evening meals.
