Glenmalure (Drumgoff) & Greenan

Restaurant Pub Bed and Breakfast Bed and Breakfast with Evening Meal

Unlike other upland villages, Glenmalure -named Drumgoff in many publications- is a dispersed farming community, centred on a cross-roads and an old -but outstandingly modernised- coaching inn. The hamlet extends along the Glenmalure valley floor north-west to Barravore and down-valley to Kirakee and Greenan, some 5 km to the southeast.

Rathdrum (5 km east of Greenan), is an attractive and busy small town. Nearby Avondale House (built circa 1850) and Forest Park, extending to over 200 hectares, contains some fine walks. Woodland and riverside wildlife (squirrel, badger, stoat and otter) can be observed in their natural environment. Avondale is also rich in bird life and some ninety different species have been recorded there.
