Clonegal
Clonegal, the finish (or start!) point of The Wicklow Way, is an attractive one-street village. Either Sean O'Duin's or Osborne's provide the perfect ambience for a celebratory pint to mark completion. However, Osborne's has the added attraction of a counter made of coffin lids and also offers a Completion Certificate for the walk.
If you arrive in June, July or August and have time to spare, be sure to visit Clonegal Castle and have a conducted tour. It's a fascinating, almost four hundred year old property, still lived in by descendants of the original Durdin-Robertson family. The entrance is just off the main street near Osborne's.
Bus Eireann operates a twice daily service from Bunclody via Kildavin (3 km from Clonegal), to Dublin.
Bunclody
By contrast Bunclody, 5 km from Clonegal, is a busy and fast growing small town -by far the largest on or near the entire Wicklow Way route.
