The Wicklow Way walking route generally bypasses towns and villages but takes the walker within a few kilometres of them. When planning how far to travel each day it is important to allow for the additional distance involved in getting to and returning from accommodation and the centres of commercial activity.
The villages adjacent to each stage of the route are briefly described in this Section and a listing of the available services, such as accommodation, shops, pubs, restaurants, ATM facility, etc., is given.
