10th November 2011. As a result of the recent heavy rain and flooding, the footbridge that crosses the Dargle River in Glensoulan Valley has been damaged.
12th November 2011. The Moon Light Challenge hopes to raise funds to complete the Mountain Rescue Base just outside Laragh. This 26km challenge walk will take place during the full moon in November, and will mostly incorporate the Wicklow Way.
5th November 2011. This race aims to raise funds for Fighting Blindness. The route is approximately 15km long over some superbly scenic forest trails in the Glendalough area. Only 500m of the race is on tarmac!
28th-31st October 2011. This Festival is based in the Brockagh Resource Centre between Laragh and Glendalough. There are a wide selection of walks on offer to suit various fitness levels. In addition to the regular guided walks are some themed walks that include night hikes, a yoga walk, an outdoor digital photography workshop and a nordic walk.
Evening entertainment includes a Céilí of Traditional Irish Music and set-dancing and a second night of dancing entitled 'My Rhythms Dancing'.

15th October 2011. Wicklow is home to a large population of wild deer. They are particularly impressive in autumn when they 'rut'. National Park staff shall have telescopes set up on the Spinc walking trail between 11.00am and 4.00pm. Anyone walking on this route is welcome to stop by, view the deer through the telescopes and discuss the deer and their ecology with our staff.
2nd October 2011. A number of free events will be taking place along the Wicklow Way on National Trails Day. The principal villages participating in the day are Enniskerry, Glendalough and Glenmalure.
25th September 2011. Mountain Meitheal will be starting a new project in Glendalough. They will be working in the Wicklow Mountains National Park repairing a section of trail which was damaged during the floods last year. The work will include the construction of stone steps, stone pitching and crib walling.
17th September 2011. Join the staff of the Wicklow Mountains National Park on a gentle stroll around Glendalough to learn how to identify trees. Discover their history, folklore, ecology and uses, from the mighty oak, the King of the Trees, to the delicate Mountain Ash. Due to popular demand, this walk is being offered twice - once in the morning and once in the afternoon.

To celebrate Heritage Week, the UCD archaeologists shall be giving two tours to examine the publically accessible archaeology of the Upper Lake region at Glendalough, including the focal points of their current excavations and a visit to sites such as Reefert Church and St Kevin's Cell.
26th August 2011. The UCD School of Archaeology have been conducting research and training fieldwork in the Upper Lake area of Glendalough since 2009. As part of Heritage Week, the archaeologists shall be giving tours of the dig and their discoveries.

13th August 2011. Learn about which plant species are important to the life cycles of butterflies and bees. Discover how they can be incorperated into our gardens to enhance native biodiversity. A short presentation will be followed by a gentle stroll in Knocksink Wood Nature Reserve in Enniskerry, looking at the plants, butterflies and bees.

20th July 2011. Bats are misunderstood creatures that often inspire fear or horror. In reality, they are fascinating, harmless, and really rather sweet. The attic of the Information Office is a maternity roost for a large colony of Pipistrelle bats, and we shall watch them emerge at dusk, before heading off on a stroll to see some other species.
16th July 2011. Did you know that Ireland has 33 species of butterfly? Unlike many of our invertebrate species, butterflies are easy to identify and with a little bit of effort, anyone can become competent at telling their Peacocks from their Tortoiseshells.

30th June 2011. Leave No Trace Ireland has recently been awarded funding by the Department of Community, Equality & Gaeltacht Affairs to develop Primary School Resources and are therefore seeking a project coordinator to manage the development of the resources.
25th June 2011. The Dublin Wicklow Mountain Rescue Team is holding a major event to walk along a section of the Dublin-Wicklow border line.
19th June 2011. Over the weekend of the 18 & 19th June, Mountain Meitheal and Glenwalk members assembled an Adirondack type hut at Mucklagh, near Aughavannagh.
11th June 2011. Get up close and personnel with beautiful butterflies, ferocious dragonflies, cute little ladybirds, and love 'em or loath 'em spiders!
15th May 2011 is Dawn Chorus Day, and all over Ireland people will be getting up incredibly early to join a guided walk to listen to and learn the birds' songs. The National Park is delighted to once again welcome the staff of Birdwatch Ireland to host this walk. There is an optional Birdsong Workshop in the Education Centre after the walk.
May Bank Holiday Weekend 2011. A range of walks for people of various fitness-levels will take place over the weekend in addition to a host of events happening in the town of Tinahely.
16th April 2011. Another popular walk being held by the Wicklow Mountains National Park to help our modern generation identify with some of our April wildflowers.
2nd April 2011. The Red Grouse is one of Ireland's very special birds. It is an iconic bird of heather moorland, but sadly, its numbers are declining. Join us on Saturday, 2nd of April 2011, for a slow hike of 4 to 5 hours across open mountain.
26th March 2011. Mountain Rescue Ireland would like to thank all of the customers on the Dingle, Kerry and Wicklow Way websites over the last 8 months for their part in helping to raise nearly 450 for this registered charity.
12th March 2011. The evening starts with a lecture by Deirdre Kellehan, on the 'Cassini Mission to Saturn'. This shall be followed by a star gazing session.
2nd March 2011. This is the final in the series of 1:30,000 maps for Wicklow by EastWest Mapping. It covers Glencree to Bray in the North and from Laragh to Wicklow Town in the South .
