Terry Lambert from Hilltop Treks will lead a free 8km walk along part of the Wicklow Way trail close to Enniskerry. Terry will lead the walk over Prince William's Seat, a looped walk through wonderful forests with great views over Wicklow and Dublin. There will be a stop for a bit to eat along the Way so bring a small packed lunch, raingear, boots and suncream.
The meeting point for the walk will be in Enniskerry at 11am. It is open to families with children over 4 years old and take 2-3 hours. Places are limited on this free walk, so please book early as pre-registration is required.

Helen Lawless from Mountaineering Ireland will guide this walk on trails through mixed woodland, with magnificent views over the Glendalough Valley. Learn about the geology, flora and fauna of the valley, and how we can adopt a Leave No Trace approach when enjoying the outdoors. The walk is on Wicklow Mountains National Park trails, it is approximately 9km to 11km and includes some sections of steep walking.
The meeting point is at the Visitor Centre which is on the left hand side as you enter the Glendalough valley (immediately before the Glendalough Hotel). The walk starts at 11am and should last around 4 hours. It is suitable for families of both experienced and inexperienced hikers.
Pre-registration is required. You are asked to bring a packed lunch, water and raingear. Wear footwear suitable for rugged terrain (i.e. walking shoes or boots). Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Staff at the Wicklow Mountains National Park will be giving out free leaflets on National Trails Day. You can pick up a copy of the Walking Trails of Glendalough and one of the Self-Guided Nature Trail leaflets and discover a little about the flora and fauna around Glendalough.
One Walking Trails and one Nature Trail Leaflet per family/group will be available from the Information Office which is located between Poulanass Waterfall and Glendalough's Upper Lake.

Denis Gill will lead a 3-hour walk, exploring Historic Glenmalure during the years following the defeat of the 1798 United Irishmen's Rebellion and the collapse of the short-lived Wexford Republic.
The walk will start in Glenmalure from the Glenmalure Lodge at 12 noon. It is open to both experienced and inexperienced hikers and will last 3-4 hours. Sturdy footwear and rain wear is essential. Pre-registration is not required.

Gary Hale from the Tinahely Walking Club will lead this guided hill walk of Ballycumber Loop walking trail. The walk starts in Tinahely and is approx 14km. It is expected to take around 3-4 hours to complete. Pre-registration is not required and walkers are asked to assemble at 11am at the Market Square, in the centre of the town.
This is a challenging walk for the inexperienced hiker. Please bring sturdy walking boots, rain gear, plenty of water and some food. It is October after all.
