Bats are misunderstood creatures that often inspire fear or horror. In reality, they are fascinating, harmless, and really rather sweet. The attic of the Information Office is a maternity roost for a large colony of Pipistrelle bats, and we shall watch them emerge at dusk, before heading off on a stroll to see some other species.
Our Bat Walks are always very popular, so this is the first of two walks that we shall be scheduling this season. All ages are welcome on this walk. Dusk will be earlier in August, so families with young children may prefer to come on the Family Bat Walk in August with its earlier start time.
Date: Wednesday, 20th July 2011. From 9.15pm.
Location: The Information Office, Upper Lake, Glendalough.
Practicalities: Adults & children welcome. No dogs. Participants are advised to bring insect repellent and a torch. This event is free of charge, but please be aware that the Upper Lake car park (Wicklow Co. Council) has a 4 charge.
