Tinahely Walking Festival

Friday, 29th April 2011

  • Sheep sculpted art display at 7pm at Market Square.
  • Exhibition at Tinahely Courthouse Arts Centre at 7.30pm.
    25th Anniversary of the campaign to save Tomnafinnoge Wood.


Saturday, 30th April 2011

Croghan Mountain Walk. This walk is a 4-5 hour walk for experienced walkers. It is 16km long with an ascent of 600m. Registration is at Community Hall at 9.30am. The entry fee is €15.

Ballycumber Loop Walk. This walk is also a 4-5 hour walk for experienced walkers as it is 14km long with an ascent of 400m. Registration at Community Hall at 10.00am. The entry fee is €15.

Mangan's Loop Walk. This walk is 2½-3 hour walk for regular walkers and is 9km long with an ascent of 300m. Registration at Community Hall at 10.30am. The entry fee is €15.

Other Events:

  • Set dancing at the Market Square from 4 - 6pm.
  • "The Tinker's Wedding" by J.M. Synge at the Courthouse.
    Admission €10. Starts at 8.30pm.


Sunday, 1st May 2011

Kyle Loop Walk. This is a 4-5 hour walk for experienced walkers. It is 20km long with an ascent of 500m. Registration is at 10.30am in the Tinahely Community Hall an costs €15.

Railway Walk. This family 'Treasure Trail Walk' starts from the Railway Walk car park at 2.00pm. It is 6-8km and should take around 2 hours to complete.

Other Events:

  • Duathlon starts from Riverside Business Centre at 10am.
  • Craft Fair at the Riverside Business Centre from 11am.
  • Caroline Fleming School of Dancing at Market Square at 1pm.
  • Festival Parade down from Kelly's Hill from 4pm.
  • Live Traditional Music at the Market Square from 4pm.
  • "Walking in Tinahely" photos in the Community Hall.
  • "The Tinker's Wedding" by J.M. Synge at the Courthouse.
    Admission €10. Starts at 8.30pm.


Monday, 2nd May 2011

Tomnafinnogue Wood Walk. This 3-4 hour walk is free and is suitable for regular walkers. It is 12km long with an ascent of 100m and should take 3-4 hours to walk. The walk starts from the Railway Walk car park.
