New Hostel for the Wicklow Way

The Skylark's Rest is an independently owned 14-bed hostel on the edge of Roundwood. The hostel is due to open for business from the 25th of June 2010. It is located on the Lough Dan Road, 2km from the Wicklow Way, on the approach to the village.

The hostel is the latest in a series of budget accommodation that is opening up along the Wicklow Way. Its strategic position between Knockree and Glendalough helps reduce what would otherwise be a long, tough walk of over 30km.

Bedrooms at the hostel are well-suited for small travelling groups of 2-4 people who want to share a room. A family suite of two adjacent rooms is also available. Overnight rates range from €21 to €25 per person and include a complimentary light breakfast.

The size of the hostel makes it a great choice for walking groups who want to explore more of the Wicklow Mountains. Groups can block-book the entire hostel at a discounted price. Sinéad, the hostel manager, is happy to discuss the various walking options in the area and provide detailed route descriptions for these hikes.
