Diversion at Glenmacnass River

28th April 2010

Follow diversion signs to bypass Glenmacnass River.

During the heavy snow earlier in 2010, the resulting floodwaters have dislodged the supporting column of the bridge over the Glenmacnass River just outside Laragh. The grid reference for the bridge is approximately T 141973. Please follow any diversion signs that you may find or follow the directions below.

Walking from Roundwood to Glendalough

If walking the Wicklow Way from north to south, after descending Paddock Hill turn left upon reaching the R115 road. Follow the road for 1km to reach Laragh and turn right. Continue for nearly 2km to reach the entrance of the Glendalough Visitor Centre on the left. Pick up the Wicklow Way from here by turning left.

If you are hiking the trail from south to north, after passing the Visitor Centre at Glendalough, turn right and continue along the road for 2km through the village of Laragh. Take the left at the Conservatory Café and follow the R115 road for around 1km to rejoin the Wicklow Way as it ascends Paddock Hill to the right.
