Ashlawn is situated on the quiet Sally Gap road, 1.5km outside Roundwood (half-way between Anna Carter Crossroads and the village) and has beautiful views towards Djouce Mountain to the north.
Ashlawn is well-placed for Wicklow Way walkers, being located between the trail and the village itself. Guests can check in, take a shower and relax a while before continuing on to Roundwood for an evening meal and to stock up with supplies for the onward journey. Then, after a hearty breakfast the next morning, they are already half way to rejoining the trail where they left of previously.
There are several short walks in the area to warrant spending a second day at Ashlawn; two Slí na Sláinte trails –one in nearby Ballinastoe Woods and the other around the Lower Vartry Reservoir. Closer to Ashlawn is Victoria's Way, the fascinating spiritual sculpture garden which boasts a large collection of granite monuments of the Hindu deity Ganesh.
