Clonegal Hostel is a renovated stone cottage that is over 100 years old. There are commanding views to the south of the Blackstairs Mountains, where the South Leinster Way begins from the neighbouring village of Kildavin. The Wicklow Way is also close-by, with the start being in the centre of Clonegal which is within a kilometer from the hostel.

Clonegal Hostel can sleep up to 8 people in four rooms. There is one double bedroom, two adjoining twin rooms that would be suitable for a family and another two-bed room. There are two shared bathrooms in the house, one on each floor.

On the ground floor, there is a large, fully-equipped kitchen and an eating area beside a multi-fuel stove. There are several grocery shops in Clonegal to buy food supplies for cooking dinner. Unlike many other hostels, Clonegal Hostel includes a light breakfast in the overall price. Guests can help themselves to cereal, fruit juice, toast and tea or coffee.

Beside the kitchen is a TV lounge with an open fire. There is a washing machine and clothes dryer, in the kitchen, for those who want to clean all of their gear before heading home.
